Private clouds enable enterprises to provide hosted services to business units behind the enterprise firewalls. Most private cloud's today are being built on traditional virtualization infrastructure from VMware and other virtualization providers by building a VMware vCloud Director, Citrix CloudStack, or OpenStack infrastructure layer on top of VMware. The private cloud allows business units to enjoy the benefits of public cloud computing and corporate IT groups to realize the benefits from control, compliance and customization uniquely available only with using internal resources.
Unfortunately, just adding vCloud Director, CloudStack or OpenStack on top of VMware is not a private cloud. These products are either too complicated for end-users to use, or do not support many of the features that a private cloud should offer. You need to enable end-user self-service, standardized server provisioning, and controls that allows IT to open up end-user access to create new servers but allowing other parts of the organization to setup controls over the usage and limits of this self-service.
Our solutions enable enterprises to build and manage private clouds. We support Citrix CloudStack , OpenStack , and VMware vCloud infrastructure software. With ScaleXtreme, you can customize the roles and access control so that each end-user has a specific set of capabilities they can use on the private cloud, and each user will have a specific set of functions they can perform (server provisioning, monitoring, ongoing server maintenance tasks, etc.).
ScaleXtreme is hosted in the cloud, so you would open a secure port through your firewall that can only be accessed by the ScaleXtreme IP's. Then, you would setup an account with ScaleXtreme and link your internal VMware vCloud, CloudStack, or OpenStack cloud URL to this account. Once your private cloud is linked to your ScaleXtreme account, you can create, monitor and manage any server on your internal virtualization infrastructure directly through ScaleXtreme.
