The concept behind DevOps is enabling rapid, standardized IT that is both repeatable and scalable. Instead of manually creating and managing infrastructure, the DevOps philosophy standardizes the setup and rapid scaling up and down of servers. ScaleXtreme offers a rich set of features that allows a customer to transition to a DevOps model of running their IT operations without having to stop and change to this new model.
Repeatable, Scalable Server Provisioning With Server Templates
ScaleXtreme has built Dynamic Server Assembly™ based on the concept of a template that allows a customer to model a base set of parameters. The model includes the operating system hosted in the catalog of a cloud provider and a series of application and configuration settings. These get applied to the base server when it is activated on the cloud provider. ScaleXtreme uses integrated workflow technology to create the server, install necessary applications and make appropriate configurations all specifically tailored to the cloud provider. Unlike other providers like Rightscale, ScaleXtreme does not require you to use special virtual machine or Amazon EC2 server images - we dynamically install our agent on the server as it is provisioned.
Server Templates allow you to "build once" and launch anywhere. Server Templates allow you to define what a server looks like and launch the same, exact server over and over again. This helps you scale your deployment, such as when a server is over capacity, and launch a new server that can start sharing the load from the other server. Using a Server Template you never have to guess about how to launch your new server as it automatically uses your definitions over again.
